Hello! Today's project is a decorative trivet that we are making in my holiday gifts class on November 16th. Are you near the Raleigh, NC area? If so, come join the fun! In this class, you can choose what you want to make and how many. We'll make these trivets (in chocolate chip, but my mom wanted red, so this is for her), note card sets, stamped candles, and photo brag book. We'll get lots of holiday gifts made that evening!
This trivet starts as a 6" x 6" tile that I got at a hardware superstore. The ornament is made with the Vintage Ornaments 1 stencil set from the Definitely Decorative catalog. Do you have that catalog? If not and you would like one, email me and I'll send it to you. Using a sponge dauber and craft ink, I sponged in the stencil on the tile, then sprinkled it with Glassy Glaze and baked it in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes (just until the Glassy Glaze melts). Then after it cooled, I used stencil paste on the swirl stencil. After that dried (it dries quickly), I used a sponge dauber to add Frost White Shimmer Paint to the stencil paste. It is very pearly in real life. The bow was added with a mini glue dot, and felt pads were added to the bottom of the tile to prevent it from scratching the furniture. That's it! Easy, but a great holiday gift for teachers, neighbors, friends... everyone!
