Beary Best Friends Birthday Card

Hello and Happy Memorial Day! Today's project features the Beary Best Friends and Beary Nice Wishes stamp sets, which are stamp sets of the Build-A-Bear theme. I have to admit that these have been gathering dust in my stamp room. My kids are a little old for Build A Bear, but I just couldn't resist the adorable stamp sets!

Isn't he a cutie-patootie? He was stamped on Watercolor Paper, and colored with my Aquapainter and classic inks in Close To Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, and Not Quite Navy. When watercoloring, make sure your outline is stamped in a waterproof ink like Staz On, or your colors will bleed together.

The sentiment was stamped in Jet Black Staz On on a 1/2 inch strip of Very Vanilla Cardstock. I made the banner by inserting the end in the 1 1/4" square punch on the corner for a perfect banner cut out. I curled the banner a bit & adhered it to the card with a couple mini glue dots. I didn't want the brad to poke through the card, so I added the glue dot to the back of the brad.

This Dusty Durango ribbon was the last of my supply. Yea! I cannot tell you how much ribbon I have retiring... it makes me sick, but it is a good lesson to not buy so much next time! :-) (I say that, but wait until you see all of the gorgeous new ribbon! Tee hee!)

In A Word New Catalog Case

Hello! Today's project is a CASE of a card that is on the cover of the brand new 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog. It uses current products and I changed up the stamp set, but I got the idea for the striped Top Note from the cover.  

Isn't it pretty? I have just scraps left of the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper, so this project was perfect to use those!

Awash With Flowers Faux Stained Glass

Hi there! I hope you are having a great holiday weekend. Today's project is one that my local stamp club and my Online Cards & Projects Club will be doing for the month of June. It features the coming-soon stamp set, Awash With Flowers. I really love this set!

 

The technique is called Faux Stained Glass. To do this technique, you need a line-art stamp set (one that is an outline to be colored in). 

1. Stamp the image in craft ink or Versamark on Vellum Cardstock, sprinkle embossing powder on the stamped image, then heat with heat tool to emboss. (I used Versamark & Black Embossing Powder, but Black Craft Ink would be great, too.) Be sure to use your Embossing Buddy to keep stray flecks of black off of your project.
2. Turn stamped image over, & color in the flowers with markers on the back of the vellum. I used Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Real Red, & Old Olive. Start with lightest color first on part of the image, then add darker colors next to the lighter ones.
3. Blend colors together with Blender Pen. When you color on the vellum, the colors don't sink in right away, so you can blend them together easily for a stained glass look.
4. Finish the project. I backed my vellum with Whisper White cardstock and adhered them together with black brads in the 4 corners. The "thank you" is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, which was punched with the Word Window Punch & matted with a Basic Black piece punched with the Modern Label Punch. All of that on a Melon Mambo card base.

Monogrammed Notecard

Hello! Well, if you read my previous post, I spoke too soon about my son coming back from the camping trip unscathed. He is that kid that will be the only one to get a tick, fall in a lake, break his arm... whatever bad thing could happen, of all the people in the vicinity, it will happen to him. He gets hurt every single day!

When we were coming back from the camping trip, I noticed a long red scratch on the side of his face. Yesterday morning, it looked a little angrier, and by the time I picked him up from school, it looked awful. So I took him to the doctor, and of course, he has poison ivy! I honestly don't know what I am going to do with that boy!

Now, on to today's project. This is a monogrammed notecard that I made for my neighbor, Diana. This is the last in the series of card samples that I made for her to choose from. I suppose I could go on making different thank you cards forever, but she needs those cards now!

Again, this is a very simple stamps, ink, & paper card; easy to make multiples of. I used my favorite Baroque Motifs & Lovely Letters stamp sets. For the flower image, I stamped off once to give it a lighter shade. The centers of the flowers were dotted with 2-way glue pen & dusted with Dazzling Diamonds. Delicious! 

Last night, I went to see the movie, Sex & The City with 17 other gals! It was loads of fun, & great to get out of the house & have a girls' night out. I have to say that I really enjoyed the movie, too. Parts of it were a little hokey, but all in all, very entertaining.

Have you ever had a secret that you were dying to tell... it was just eating you up to keep it inside... you just want to tell just one person... anyone!... well THAT'S ME with the brand new Idea Book and Catalog burning in my hot little hands! Now, back to what I can show you. <sigh> Here's a little card I whipped up last week. It features the Three Little Words stamp set, which has been getting lots of use in my stamp room lately!
This is a very simple card. Around this time of the Stampin' Up year, I always find myself trying to use up retiring Designer Series Paper and In Colors. Out with the old, and in with the new, I guess. Plus, this year we have to make room for 10 new colors! Woo hoo!

I am so tired, I can hardly see. The 3rd grade camp out last night was loads of fun, Aidan had the time of his life, and he was the only 3rd grade boy who did not (apparently) end up with Deer Ticks on him! Ewwww! I hope I didn't miss anything, I checked him carefully twice, but those ticks are tiny! Here is a few photos of the event.  

I'm very proud of myself for going camping. I have to say that no one would confuse what we did for real camping... we slept in an air conditioned cabin with a kitchen & bathroom... but still, this was a big step for me! LOL! We had a great time. (I'm just glad that the 5th grade campout is without parents! LOL!)

En Francais Thank You Card

Bonjour! Today I have a thank you card with that certain je ne sais quois. (I took high school French, so excuse me if it is misspelled!) It features the En Francais stamp set, which I love!

I cased this card from our demonstrator magazine, Stampin' Success. I changed the colors up a bit & the size of the card. My card uses Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Kraft (soon to be called Crumb Cake), and Bashful Blue. I love that it is all neutral except for the splash of blue.

Always Thank You Card

Hi there! Tonight I am preparing to go camping with my son's third grade class tomorrow. Now, if you know me, you know that I am not a camper. I love my creature comforts, especially indoor plumbing. LOL! We will be sleeping in cabins, so I'm hoping that it isn't going to be as bad as I fear, but I know I'll go to bed thinking about ticks & spiders! Eek!

I'm telling you all of this to let you know that the next few days' posts will be short & sweet. Today's project is a clean and simple thank you card made with one of my favorite stamp set, Always. I just love that gorgeous bird & I hope it doesn't retire!

I didn't add a lot of embellishments, just a strip of ribbon & some sponging. The Rose Red strip in the back was embossed with a texture plate. A friend of mine gave that strip to me a long, long time ago, before I had the Big Shot, and it has been waiting in my cardstock file ever since. I don't know what it is from, but it is pretty! 

The bird was inked in Regal Rose, which is the same color as the card base.

I do have to share one bit of my day before I start packing. This morning I had a brand new experience. Our Leopard Gecko, Meeko, has been sick. For a week I was shoving a syringe of medicine in his mouth (very difficult & stressful), but that still didn't seem to heal him. So then I started taking him to the vet to get an antibiotic injection every 3 days. Well, I realized that with the long Memorial Day weekend, he won't be able to get his meds at the vet. So today, I gave my very first injection, and it was to the gecko! Talk about a pressure situation! I'm proud to say that it went well & I'll be giving him injections at home for the next 2 weeks. I think I deserve the Mom-of-the-Year award after this! :-)

Fun & Fast Notes Thank You Card

Hi there & Happy Sunday! Today I'm going to share a swap card that I received ages ago, but as I was going through my thank you cards, I saw it & had to share it with you. It is adorable!

The little sliver of DSP on the left is retired, but everything else is currently available. (Actually, I don't know where the Thank You Very Much stamp came from!) 

The branches are from the Embrace Life stamp set. I love how she stamped it in Versamark Ink on the Kraft cardstock and in Old Olive Ink on the Old Olive cardstock.

The bird from Fun & Fast Notes was cut out & popped up on a dimensional for a great 3D effect.

The little bit of Linen Thread adds the perfect touch!

Baroque Motifs Thank You Card

Hi there! Today's card is a remake of one of my favorite swaps that I've received, & it was created by my friend Tracy Renaud. She made the card in Night of Navy, which is stunning, so I decided to make it in a retiring color, Brocade Blue. This is another card for my neighbor, who wants some Thank You cards.

Ooh, so simple & elegant! Thanks Tracy for the great idea!

The butterfly has just a touch of sparkle, added with my 2-Way Glue Pen & Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

Awash With Flowers in New Core Colors

Hello! My neighbor asked me to make some thank you cards for her, and as I was looking through my stash of cards, I kept coming back to the card that I made a few weeks ago with Awash With Flowers. I used most of the colors in the Earth Elements color family on that card, so I decided to remake the card using colors from a new Color Family from the Color Renovation. The colors are from the Brights collection, and they look so beautiful together!

Isn't that yummy? The colors in the new Brights color family are: Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point (former In Color), Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight (new in July), Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango (former In Color), and Real Red. I used all of the colors except Daffodil (because I don't have it yet), Pumpkin Pie, & Real Red. What do you think? 

I added touches of glitter to all of the flowers, but it didn't show up well on the photo. It is very pretty IRL.
