How cute is that? I got the idea from the brand new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog that comes out on July 1st.
I started with a piece of cardstock (Going Grey, which retires June 30th) that measures 4 1/4" x 11". I cut off 1 inch from the length of the card, then folded the remaining piece to get a 5" x 4 1/4" card.
I put the 1" strip at the folded end of the card, & folded in the sides to make the shape of a collar. No measuring was done, it was so easy. I added Snail adhesive along the lower back edge of the collar & adhered it to the top of the card, so the card length measures about 5 1/2", which makes a standard A2 card size & fits perfectly into our medium envelopes.
Using a piece of printer paper and my grid paper, I made a tie shape that was 5" long & 2" wide at the widest point. Then I cut it out & put repositionable adhesive on the back, & adhered it to the Travel Journal DSP, which is in the Summer Mini Catalog. This paper has lots of patterns that look like men's ties on one side, & has travel themed prints on the other. Love it!
Once I had a tie cut out of DSP. I adhered it to the shirt with the bottom tip on the bottom of the card. Then I used my Snail to stick down the collar over the tie.
The Happy Father's Day sentiment is from the All Holidays stamp set. I added a touch of ribbon to the top of the sentiment, so it looks like a pocket square sticking out of his pocket. Too cute! Here's another version of the card:
