Always Color Challenge #278

Hello! Today's card was inspired by a color challenge over on Splitcoast, which is Baja Breeze, Rich Razzleberry, & So Saffron plus a neutral. I pulled out an old favorite, Always, which was actually a stamp set that I chose with my Demonstrator Starter Kit.

I'm so happy that Always didn't retire! That bird is just so gorgeous. The bonus challenge was to use a grid on the card, so I used my Presto Patterns DSP and brayered it with Baja Breeze.

The bird stamp was inked in Baja Breeze, then I inked a sponge dauber in Rich Razzleberry & carefully daubed just the very edges of the bird, so he would stay mostly blue. Then I sponged the edges of the page with the dauber & matted it in Razzleberry.

I have to say that I really love this color combination!

Flight of the Butterfly

Hello! Today's project is for a Clean and Simple Challenge over on Splitcoast. The challenge is "Things That Fly", so I pulled out my beloved Flight of the Butterfly stamp set.

I wanted to do a clean design, so I chose a monochromatic palate of Rose Red & Pink Pirouette. The butterfly was stamped with the solid image in Pink Pirouette, then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to perfectly stamp the flowers over the butterfly in Rose Red. I stamped it twice, once on the white base, & once on a scrap of white cardstock, so I could punch it out & adhere it so that it looks like it is flying off of the page. I then used my Stamp-a-ma-jig again to put the quote right where I wanted it.

The Pink Pirouette layer was given texture with the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder. Such a sweet detail on the card!

I've been hoarding my Sweet Pea Felt, but felt I could part with a flower for this project. Ha!

It doesn't show up well on the photo, but each flower on the butterfly's wings was dotted with 2-Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds was sprinkled on top.

Elements of Style-- Mojo 141

Hi there! I have gotten out of the habit of doing challenges, but on Monday when my husband and kids went to the driving range, I got online and found some challenges to get my creative mojo going. And what better place to start than with the Mojo Monday sketch!

I was so thrilled with how this card turned out! It features the Elements of Style stamp set and the fabulous DSP from the Summer Mini Catalog, Island Oasis. 

I used both sides of one sheet of DSP... love those patterns together!

The Very Vanilla cardstock was given a texture treatment with Stampin' Up's Perfect Details Texturz Plate.

The bird was inked in Tempting Turquoise, then the Old Olive was added with a sponge dauber. He was cut out & popped up on Dimensionals.

The Vanilla circle was punched with the 1 3/4" circle punch & also popped up with Dimensionals.

I love how the Old Olive Satin Ribbon and the Tempting Turquoise ribbons look together. The sentiment was stamped on a die cut shape from the Matchbox Die.

Sparkly & Bright Color Challenge

Hello! I thought that I was finished making cards with Sparkly & Bright, but when I saw the color challenge on Splitcoaststampers for Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, and Basic Black, I knew I needed that reindeer one more time in Soft Suede! The challenge is CC257, Very Suede Black, if you are playing along. There was an extra challenge to add sparkle to the card, too.

The Very Vanilla piece is actually 2 pieces. I wanted to use the Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder, but I felt it was too much for the entire piece, so I used it on the top half, and the bottom half is a smooth piece, which works perfectly for stamping the sentiment. I used my 2-way glue pen on the centers of the poinsettias of the embossed piece and added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. It doesn't show up at all in the photo, but is gorgeous IRL! The reindeer is stamped in Soft Suede and punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch. To add even more bling, I removed the rhinestone from a small red brad by prying back the prongs. This was very easy to do. It was attached to Rudolph's nose with a mini glue dot. The glue dot is actually larger than the rhinestone, so I just cut away part of the glue dot with my paper snips. The circle is mounted on a Soft Suede Scallop Circle, and placed on top of the Wide striped ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. What do you think? SC257 Thoughts And Prayers

Hello! Today's project is an entry for the Sketch Challenge, SC257, over on Splitcoaststampers. I found this challenge a little challenging, because the dimensions of the whisper white piece determine the size of the stamp used. I have a couple of Christmas stamps that would work well, but I've used them a bunch in previous challenges, so I decided to "branch out" and use a non-holiday stamp set! Ha! Here is the sketch:

The gorgeous tree is from the Thoughts And Prayers stamp set, which was inked with Chocolate Chip and Old Olive Stampin' Write markers. When you color directly on markers, you should "huff" on the stamp before pressing to the paper, so that it remoistens the ink. The DSP is from the Tall Tales paper pack, and the Old Olive mat was given a dry embossed treatment with a Texturz Plate and the Big Shot. The sentiment is part of a bigger block of text, so I colored the words that I wanted to stamp with my marker, stamped it, then punched it out with the large oval punch. The scalloped oval punch gives it a nice border. The Old Olive brads are from the Earth Elements Brads. Once again, I planned to add some green glitter to the leaves, but got so eager to take the photo and upload it to Splitcoast, that I forgot. I've since added it, and it is gorgeous!

The More The Merrier CC246 and LSC248

Hello! Today's card is another one for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge #246, which is Pretty In Pink, Bermuda Bay, and Old Olive. The Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast challenges us to use the same stamp main image and colors to create more than one card, so this is my submission for LSC248. I never would have thought that I would like these 3 colors together, but I absolutely love it! It is the right mix of bright and soft. Once again I forgot to add the glitter to the snow before I took the photo, but I've since added it, and it looks awesome! Can't wait to send these to loved ones for the holidays!

The More The Merrier CC246

Hello! Today's project was inspired by the color challenge on Splitcoaststampers from last week. It is CC246 if you are playing along, and the colors are Pretty In Pink, Old Olive, and Bermuda Bay, or Pretty Olive Bays! You can also add a neutral of your choice. I love these challenges!

The snowmen from The More The Merrier stamp set were inked in Jet Black Staz On and watercolored with Stampin' Write Markers. They were matted in Old Olive cardstock, and a larger Pretty in Pink mat allows for the Bermuda Bay ribbon to fit. A Pretty In Pink Button from the Sherbet Designer Buttons was tied onto the ribbon with Silver Elastic cord to add dimension, and it was all placed on a Whisper White card base. Happy Holidays is from Four The Holidays stamp set, and it was inked in Bermuda Bay. I forgot to add the Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the snow, but I'll do it before it goes off in the mail!

Snow Buddies Sponging with Video!

Hello, and Happy Thanksgiving! Today's project uses the sponging technique, which was inspired by the Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoaststampers, CAS24. Another Color Challenge Card with Patterned Pines

Happy Monday! Today's project is another one for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge (CC245) which uses Real Red, Always Artichoke, and Chocolate Chip. I had some left over Designer Series Paper from the Autumn Traditions paper pack that I knew I wouldn't use, since Fall is practically over. The paper is Always Artichoke, so I thought it would be perfect for the color challenge and for a Christmas card. I was very happy with how it turned out! This card also uses the Patterned Pines Hostess Level 1 Stamp Set from the Holiday Mini catalog. It is one of those stamp sets that makes gorgeous cards so easily! I can produce a bunch of these in very little time, which is what I need to do, since the holidays are right around the corner!

Snow Buddies Sketch Challenge

Hi! Another quick post today (am I crazy?), because I just did the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge for this week, and I just had to share! It is SC255 if you want to play along.

 This card features the Snow Buddies Level 2 stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog and Merry Moments DSP. I don't normally put this many layers on a card, but the sketch had them and it really does look better with all of the matting. The snowman was stamped in Staz On, so the ink doesn't run when watercoloring. His arms, hat, and stocking were perfectly placed using the Stamp-a-majig.  Dazzling Diamonds Glitter is used for sparkly snow, and the clear Rhinestone Brads with their prongs removed add even more sparkle.
