Because I Care Class Project

Hi there! Today's project in one that my local Stamp Club and my Online Cards & Projects Club made this month as one of their free project that they get each month. It features the stamp set Because I Care, which is a Level 1 Hostess Set. You can earn it for FREE when you place at least a $150 order, either on your own, or if you host a workshop or get friends together to place an order. 

I love this set! How gorgeous is that Hydrangea? (Did I spell that right?) I stamped it in Black Staz On ink on Watercolor Paper. You really need the watercolor paper with an image this large. I tried it several times on Whisper White cardstock, & I just couldn't color it so that I liked the outcome. Then, using Aqua Painters, I colored all of the flowers in Bashful Blue ink. While that was drying, I used Old Olive to color the leaf and my Early Espresso Marker to color the stem. Once the flower was dry (very important step!), I went back over the centers of the flowers with Marina Mist ink and my Aquapainter. You could even add more, darker colors like Night of Navy and/or Concord Crush if you wanted more depth, but I wanted my Club gals to not feel overwhelmed.

Scalloped Envelope Box for Sizzlits

Hello! I hope you have had a great holiday weekend. I sent my children to TN to visit their grandparents yesterday, so I am trying to make the most of my "time off" by getting lots of projects done around the house & getting ready for my upcoming classes & Open House. Wheee!

Today's project is a little box that I made to keep my Sizzlits in for my Big Shot. I first made one about a year ago, when Kiwi Kiss was still an In Color, but my Sizzlit collection has grown, so I made a new box with the current Pear Pizzazz cardstock and Greenhouse Garden DSP.

How cute is that? Now, here's last year's:

I will film a video showing how to make it, but basically it is 4 scalloped envelopes put together with Sticky Strip.  My Online Cards & Projects Club will be making these this month!

Faux Stained Glass Video Tutorial

Hello! I'm finally getting around to posting videos of the projects that my local Stamp Club and my Online Cards & Projects Club ladies are making this month. Better late than never, right? (That's what I'm telling myself anyway.) I posted a photo and details about this card made with the Awash With Flowers stamp set here.

This was my first time trying this technique, and it is so fun! Here is a video on how to make it:

Elements of Style-- Mojo 141

Hi there! I have gotten out of the habit of doing challenges, but on Monday when my husband and kids went to the driving range, I got online and found some challenges to get my creative mojo going. And what better place to start than with the Mojo Monday sketch!

I was so thrilled with how this card turned out! It features the Elements of Style stamp set and the fabulous DSP from the Summer Mini Catalog, Island Oasis. 

I used both sides of one sheet of DSP... love those patterns together!

The Very Vanilla cardstock was given a texture treatment with Stampin' Up's Perfect Details Texturz Plate.

The bird was inked in Tempting Turquoise, then the Old Olive was added with a sponge dauber. He was cut out & popped up on Dimensionals.

The Vanilla circle was punched with the 1 3/4" circle punch & also popped up with Dimensionals.

I love how the Old Olive Satin Ribbon and the Tempting Turquoise ribbons look together. The sentiment was stamped on a die cut shape from the Matchbox Die.

Awash With Flowers Faux Stained Glass

Hi there! I hope you are having a great holiday weekend. Today's project is one that my local stamp club and my Online Cards & Projects Club will be doing for the month of June. It features the coming-soon stamp set, Awash With Flowers. I really love this set!

 

The technique is called Faux Stained Glass. To do this technique, you need a line-art stamp set (one that is an outline to be colored in). 

1. Stamp the image in craft ink or Versamark on Vellum Cardstock, sprinkle embossing powder on the stamped image, then heat with heat tool to emboss. (I used Versamark & Black Embossing Powder, but Black Craft Ink would be great, too.) Be sure to use your Embossing Buddy to keep stray flecks of black off of your project.
2. Turn stamped image over, & color in the flowers with markers on the back of the vellum. I used Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Real Red, & Old Olive. Start with lightest color first on part of the image, then add darker colors next to the lighter ones.
3. Blend colors together with Blender Pen. When you color on the vellum, the colors don't sink in right away, so you can blend them together easily for a stained glass look.
4. Finish the project. I backed my vellum with Whisper White cardstock and adhered them together with black brads in the 4 corners. The "thank you" is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, which was punched with the Word Window Punch & matted with a Basic Black piece punched with the Modern Label Punch. All of that on a Melon Mambo card base.

Builder Wheel Club Project Video

Purse Gift Card Holder

Hello! Today's project is one that my Online Cards & Projects Club will be doing this month as one of their free projects. 

Isn't it cute? It features the Great Friend stamp set and the Cottage Wall DSP. Here is a video showing how it was made:

 

Written Instructions: 

1. Take a 6 x 6: piece of DSP & score at 3”. Fold.
2. Take a die cut Top Note and score in half long-ways. Fold.
3. Punch each end of Top Note near score line with smaller punch on Crop-a-dile.
4. Put 9 ½” ribbon through. & adhere with tape.
5. To cut purse shape: with open end facing you, line up the fold on the track & the open end point on ¾” & cut. Do same on other side.
6. Use snail on back of tope note & attach to purse, lined up with score line.
7. Add decoration for front of purse & Velcro.
8. Add gift card holder inside, 1 ¼” x 4 ¼” at score line.
